How to Size Yourself for a Faja (and Why It Matters)

How to Size Yourself for a Faja (and Why It Matters)

When it comes to fajas, proper sizing isn’t just about comfort—it’s about results. At Embodied, we believe in celebrating your shape at every stage of the journey. That’s why we’ve created a stage one faja that supports healing and feels good to wear. But to get the most from it, you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing the right size, buying it at the right time, and putting it on properly.

Step 1: Sizing Yourself for Success

Unlike your everyday clothing, fajas are compression garments and require more accurate measurements. Here’s what to do:

1. Use a soft measuring tape.
Avoid estimating or going by clothing size—every body is beautifully unique.

2. Measure the following areas:

  • Waist: Narrowest point, usually just above your belly button

  • Hips: Widest part around your glutes

3. Compare your measurements to our sizing chart.
At Embodied, we design our fajas to be true to measurement—not vanity sizing. If you're between sizes, we usually recommend sizing down.

There are a lot of variables that go into fitting a faja, such as height, size of thighs and booty, etc.

Our team is always happy to assist at info@embodiedfajas.com if you're unsure!

Step 2: When Should You Purchase a Stage One Faja?

We recommend ordering your stage one faja before surgery so it’s ready when you are.

Why this timing matters:

  • Most surgeons or recovery centers will want you in your faja within 24 hours post-op.

  • You’ll need time to try it on and ensure the fit is right.

  • If you’re ordering with us and need an exchange, we cover shipping both ways (just make sure you try it on over clean garments and keep it in new condition).

Pro tip: Pack your faja in your surgery bag so you’re not scrambling post-op.

But What If My Body Measurements Changes After Surgery?

That’s totally normal—and expected. Here's why you should still measure before surgery for a stage one faja:

  • Stage one fajas are designed for immediate post-op use. That means they account for swelling, foams and surgical dressings.

  • Your pre-surgery measurements give us the best starting point to size you for your first week of healing.

  • Our sizing method, based on waist and hip is more accurate than picking a dress size—it ensures your faja won't be too tight or restrict your lymphatic flow.

  • If you are having a lot of skin removed or having a lot of liposuction around your abdomen you can size down.

Think of it like prepping a soft, supportive hug for your healing body—customized just for this stage.

If you’re between sizes or unsure, we’re happy to help at info@embodiedfajas.com. You deserve to feel confident and cared for every step of the way.

Step 3: How to Put On the Embodied Stage One Faja

Our stage one faja is designed with post-op swelling and sensitivity in mind—it’s gentle, supportive, and intentionally easy to step into.

To put it on:

1. Step into it slowly.
Make sure all the hooks are open. If you’re early in your recovery, it’s best to have someone assist you. Take your time—there’s no rush.

2. Pull it up over your hips and adjust.
Take your time aligning the seams, especially around the lower belly and back. The drain clips should sit on either side of your hips, and the inseam should align comfortably along the inner thigh.

3. Put the straps on and readjust.
Lift the straps over your shoulders and gently reposition the garment. The lower back compression panel should sit low on the lumbar area, and the booty cut-out should be centered and comfortable.

4. Fasten gently.
Start from the bottom hook and work your way up. Never force it—you may initially need assistance with this part.

5. Check the fit.
You should feel snug support, not restricted. You should be able to sit, move, and breathe comfortably while still feeling held.
