FAQ

What is a faja?

A Faja is a compression garment designed to shape, support, and contour the body. While they are often used for post-surgical recovery, they are not limited to surgical patients. They are great for everyday body shaping and providing that extra pop! The hooks on our fajas allow for customized curves based on the swelling a body naturally encounters over time, whether due to cycles or seasons.

What is a stage 1 faja?

A stage 1 faja, a post-surgical compression garment or shapewear, is a specialized garment designed to provide compression and support after surgical procedures such as liposuction, bbl and tummy tucks. However, the use of fajas is not limited to surgical patients only. Fajas are great for everyday wear, helping to emphasize your curves and provide that extra little pop!

How long should I wear a stage 1 faja?

If you are wearing the stage 1 faja for post-operative purposes, you will likely wear the stage 1 for approximately two weeks. Measurements will fluctuate due to swelling from surgery, as excess fluid from liposuction is illuminated from the body. If an individual has a JP drain, they will often wear stage 1 for the duration the drain is in. In all post-operative circumstances, it is best to consult with your surgeon's protocols.

What are the loops on the stage 1 faja for?

We designed our stage 1 faja with loops for those with a JP drain, a drain specific to tummy tuck and circumferential body lift procedures. Our hooks will allow you to secure the drain to avoid tugging and dangling.

What is a stage 2 faja?

A stage 2 faja, also a post-surgical compression garment or shapewear, is a specialized garment used after stage 1 to provide more compression, support and body sculpting. Patients typically wear stage 2 garments after the JP drain is removed or a handful of weeks after their procedure. Stage 2 fajas are designed to reduce swelling, improve skin retraction and aid in body contouring.

Like all fajas, they are not limited to surgical patients only. Our Super Shape, Stage 2 faja can be comfortably worn under clothing and add that extra pop to your curves!

How do I use the restroom wearing a faja?

The great thing about our stage 1 and stage 2 fajas is that they have an open crotch, making restroom visits a much easier experience.

What is a waist trainer, and what does it do?

A waist trainer is a shapewear and compression garment designed to cinch the waist, support better posture and provide temporary slimming. It can be worn at the gym or leisurely worn under your clothes.

If you are a post-operative patient getting back into the gym, we suggest wearing a waist trainer in place of your faja while exercising. Our waist trainer will provide compression that will alleviate post-operative swelling.

How do I know which size faja to purchase?

Please consult the sizing chart provided on each product page to determine the best size faja.

If you're choosing a faja after undergoing a BBL and are struggling to find one that perfectly matches your proportions, we recommend using your hip measurements as a starting point and then having the torso tailored to fit. If you require assistance with sizing, please don't hesitate to contact us at info@embodiedfajas.com.

I did not have surgery. Can I still benefit from a faja?

Absolutely! Many customers wear our fajas daily and have not had a surgical procedure. Fajas can help with:

  • Body contouring: Shaping with fajas can give that extra bit of confidence whether worn under work attire, formal dress or everyday streetwear.
  • Posture support: Fajas support the core and back, encouraging better posture and reduced slouching.
  • Exercise support: Like with posture, our fajas support the muscles we engage when working out, specifically with our waist trainers!

What are the benefits of a faja post-operatively?

  • Compression and support:  Fajas provide a range of compressions to help reduce swelling and inflammation.
  • Reduce bruising:  Fajas can minimize post-surgical bruising by preventing blood and fluids from pooling in the treated area.
  • Skin Retraction: Compression garments provide constant pressure on the skin and underlying tissues, helping to support the retraction of the skin while shaping the treated areas.

Preventing fluid buildup:  Thanks to the constant compression of the garment, fajas can prevent the buildup of fluids in the treated areas.

How do you wash a faja?

Handwashing is the best possible way to protect your investment. We strongly recommend hand washing our shapewear in lukewarm water using a mild detergent and laying flat to dry. Do not ring out the garment to remove excess water.

If you cannot handwash your shapewear, wash on a gentle or “delicate” cycle in lukewarm water and then lay flat to dry.

Please avoid extreme temperatures and fabric softeners on your shapewear, as it will damage the material.
